I wish they'd worked in another chess pun to fit the Rook and Knight names. And, yes, still the eyeball issue. But somehow, this one works better? I read it like he has eyeglasses, which is cute.
And besides that, Corviquire is one handsome bird! What a gallant profile, fluffy chest (take notes Greedent) and powerful talons. I think this is the most I've liked a middle-stage bird since Pidgeotto? He just looks cool!

Holy shit I hadn't even noticed the chess theme. Such a missed opportunity. He could have been a Corvishop.
ReplyDeleteThing about chess is that all other pieces are more explicitly something else. You can't name it after a bishop if it's not affiliated with the church.
They could have done chess puns if it were pawn-rook-knight, I guess.
That would've worked e En better, since Corvisquire could conceivably pass for a rook (bird), while Rookidee certainly can't.
Again with the colors for this one, by the way. It's a very neat blue. This might actually be the first three-stage evolution that Loses color as it grows up, while keeping a consistent progression (black, yellow, blue->black, blue->all black)
