So if Mewtwo is Freiza, and Mega Mewtwo X is Super Buu, then that makes Mega Mewtwo Y Kid Buu, right?
alright, so, this one is kinda radical. tail is now a head-tail, and his neck tube whatever is now the bridge of his headphones? I can dig it, I suppose. that chest ridge looks kind of dumb, like they just threw a line there because they got scared of blank space.
I like the fingers and toes being different colored, always love that shit. and I think the concept works well, it's like how Buu and Frieza got their most powerful by slimming down and stuff. I actually had an idea for an evolutionary line that works like that, only gets stronger but gets less and less physically intimidating.
so yeah. This was one of the first Megas announced, and a lot of people had kneejerk reactions, but I think I actually like it more than a bit.
Overall: 7/10
Between the comically oversized middle toe and the fact it has Jessie's hairstyle, I can't take it seriously. But your blog, your call.

ReplyDeleteA very cool concept that was unfortunately ruined by that movie with that awful female Mewtwo, taking the whole anime series down with it. Yuyama and the gang just don't know how to do Pokémon justice.
ReplyDeleteThere is no "taking the whole anime series down with it" if the series mentioned is garbage to begin with. The anime was only good in the first season and maybe the second if you are generous, but the show was quickly unveiled as the completely uninspired and braindead production it was.
DeleteThe anime isn't good, that's not debatable, it's the same shit over and over and over and over and over and over again with maybe an episode thrown in there that actually attempts to create some sort of genuine emotional moment (ash parting with Charizard, Butterfree, that stuff), but except that, trite as always
you don't even have to attempt to create some 'dark' and 'edgy' variant of the franchise, pokemon generations was decent and the longest ongoing pokemon manga is actually good

You know what? I fully agree with you! A couple of the movies are decent/watchable in Japanese, but other than that the series is a complete embarassment. The "bringing down" I'm referring to is how Episode N and GatLA *appeared* to pander to older fans at first, but then ended up ruining everything and destroying any fans' hopes of the series getting better.
DeleteIt's why it pissed me off so much that they gave Greninja his anime voice in Smash 4, it fits if you realize he's supposed to be a bit "cute" and "funny" but they could have done so much better. God help us if Femtwo gets in the game.
