The only thing scary about Paras is how bad he sucks. Seriously. He's frigging grass/bug, which is totally okay because it's not like FIRE IS THE MOST POPULAR TYPE EVER. Plus flying also gets 4x, but no one uses flying types, but still.
He learns like NO attacks, except every goddamn status effect powder time-wasting crap ever. Sleep Powder, Stun Spore, Poison Sting, etc. Screw that. Who needs that crap? Not me. Plus he has all the defenses of a paper bag, with all the attack power of a marshmallow.
And why the heck is a crab bug thing carrying mushrooms on his back anyway? What the hell is up with that? Seriously, who does that!?

Bulbapedia's Discovery Channel/Blog on Paras/Parasect. Eh, just trying to answer why there's mushrooms on paras back... Basically it's based on a fungus in real life, and, boy, does it raise the creepiness factor.

There are insects that have parasitic mushrooms growing on them in real life.
ReplyDeleteLike the other users said, this is based on real life insects with parasitic mushrooms on their bodies. Like ants, they pretty much turn the ants into zombies and have total control over them. Like, they can freaking make and ant purposely get on a blade of grass that a cow will it so the mushroom can infect the cow. Does this make Paras seem any better to you? Yeah, he still sucks, but I think it makes him just a little bit cooler.
