No. 567: Archeops

look, don't get so down on yourself

I mean it, Archeops. You've got wonderful stats, with ridiculous Attack and a strong Speed, so don't throw it all away! I mean, you can use Stone Edge to STAB a lot of things and take out those pesky Ice types, Earthquake to deal with 3 of your other weaknesses (Rock, Steel, Electric), and Acrobatics to smack anyone around with a STAB 110 base power! Listen to me, Archeops, you've got a lot going for you!

I know other people will tell you that you look like a snake is exploding out of a chicken, or that having every single primary color as well as green is a bit more mardis gras than Pokemon, but you don't listen to them, Archeops, you don't listen! Please, I'm begging you! Nooooooooo!

Well, that's done it then. You've gone and lost more than half your health, so now what are we gonna do. Waggle at the opponent? I loaded you up on physical Attack moves, but c'mon. This is disgraceful, this is. Go wallow in self-pity Archeops, I don't need you anymore. If not for such a horrid ability I might give you an 8, and if you were a bit less fabulous it might even be a 9. But as it is... Don't get hit, is my advice.

Overall: 5/10

I would totally use that dude. But the ability is horrible! Why did they do this to him??

    1. Because besides that his stats are fantastic, and it is to crate a balance so it is not overpowered.

  2. You didn't get up in slaking's case about his even worse ability

    1. Slaking's ability is in no way worse, because it has defene to pull it off. Archeops though.... it got a raw deal.

    2. Archeops has the speed, attack, and movepool to kill its opponent 10 times before it can get a hit in to activate the ability. Slaking can do the same thing only half the time regardless of hp. Another thing about this ability that makes it better than truant is that it can be changed by worry seed and simple beam.

  3. yeah pretty much. All the effort someone would've put into this guy gets half as much payoff thanks to the ability

  4. The reason I cut Slaking and his line some slack (heh heh) is because he's a sloth, the ability fits.

But why is this ancient proto-bird getting depressed when he starts losing!? it makes no sense, and I'd much prefer Archeops to just have Good Stats, instead of Great Stats and a crippling ability for balance.

    1. The young are probably weak willed, but eventually evolve in the wild to overcome the fear. If you train it from the fossil or egg, but don't catch it in the wild, then you don't get it to overcome its fear.

  5. Not a fan of your analysis. His design is fantastic, and he's one of the best sweepers in the game. Use him well, and he doesn't get hurt and can take out just about anyone.
