am I reading an old Nintendo Power players guide? because these puns are so bad, I think I might be.
I seem to remember them all the time whenever Toad was mentioned having some inane pun to make. Sometimes it was related to him being a "fun guy", or sometimes it was about how "toadstool little, but mario is just the right size", or how there "isn't mushroom for error" with the particular segment. shit was unreal.
anyway, Foongus has a Pokeball shaped head. So when you're walking around, trying to pick up TMs or nuggets hidden in Pokeballs, you might accidentally get one of these guys. A throwback to getting spooked by Voltorbs and stuff in earlier games. It makes you wonder WHY Foongus looks like a Pokeball, though. Did it evolve to become that way, as a means of getting people to pick it up? Or was the Pokeball design inspired by its cap? Only Arceus knows.
We've had mushroom Pokemon before (Paras, Shroomish) but Foongus manages to bring another unique take on the fungi to the table, even if it isn't terribly exciting.
Overall: 6/10
If you look at the styles for pokemon conquest, there will be a pokeball shape. The game also takes place during a time were pokeballs were just being invented. The mushroom is probably some cultivar that people bred during these times that went feral. It's like if somebody bred a smiley face mushroom that spread to the outside world
ReplyDeleteI love the names of Foongus and Amoonguss. They're just hilarious to me. Also while I don't particularly like them, I think they're basically Voltorb and Electrode done right.
