No. 593: Jellicent

N's World! N's World! Poke time! Jellicent!

So, Prince and Princess jellyfish grow up to be King and Queen jellyfish? I can deal with this. I can deal with this very easily, because it makes a lot of sense and leads to a great design. I love how they each have a light-colored ring on their heads, but for the queen its a ruffle, and for the boys its a manly monarchical mustache. also those little crowns are hella adorable, yo.

but while they look like a lot of fun, let me remind you: these bastards (or bitches) are 7 feet tall, and weigh nearly 300 pounds. and according to their dex entries, they are all the time wrecking ships and feeding on the crew.

Makes the Box Jelly look tame, huh?

I kinda wish they had longer tentacles, though. I know they focused on the large head, but even those jellyfish with huge bulbous domes tend to have a nasty mess of tendrils down below.

Overall: 9/10

  1. Another ghost Pokemon that kills people, how adorable!
Ignoring that disturbing detail, Jellicent is amazing. Water absorb is a handy ability in the metagame, cursed body isn't so great though, sadly that was his signature move until dreamworld.
Water/Ghost is an excellent typing, resisting fighting very well, having an immunity to fighting moves and with blocking normal, being a fantastic spin blocker, and having great bulk against common water types with the absorb.
High Special defense makes it a fantastic wall, since its lackluster physical defense almost doesn't matter since the biggest direct threats are fighting Pokemon anyway.
Shit, with modest nature this thing actually gets a decent 84 speed, add choice specs while having rain on the field also makes it even a good special sweeper.
    10/10 for me

  2. It's a fucking king ghost jellyfish who looks like the Pringles guy. That's so metal I can't even wrap my head around it.
12/10 design of the year all years
