The best Gen 3 Pokemon

Though a lot of people claim Pokemon started to suck after Gold and Silver, they obviously don't know about the awesome Pokemon that came out of this gen. Check it out, the top 10 from the 3rd Gen:

1. Blazekin
2. Cacturne
3. Metagross
4. Shiftry
5. Deoxys
6. Shedinja
7. Duskull
8. Sableye
9. Sharpedo
10. Gardevoir

However, let's look at the cumulative ranking of my very favorites:

1. Haunter
2. Heracross
3. Scyther
4. Machamp
5. Blazekin
6. Pinsir
7. Cacturne
8. Typhlosion
9. Blastoise
10. Metagross

I'll be honest, you guys, I don't see that top 3 changing any time soon. Especially not with the fourth generation up next...

Anyway, how about you dudes/ladies? Who are you favorites from the 3rd Generation?

  1. 3rd Gen wasn't really my cup of tea. Treecko and the like was awesome. Ralts family, DEFINTITELY. Became one of my team staples. I think I liked Swablu for a bit, but that went away. Metagross is awesome, but you get Beldum so late in the game that I never really took the time to train one up and use it.

  2. I would've liked shiftry if pokemon didn't start that stupid as hell "derp anything that has 3 stages and evolves with a stone doesn't learn anything naturally" mentality. Besides that, liked wailord, zangoose, and wingull (seagull into dorky looking pelican my ass). looking forward my favorite gen next, though.

  4. Honestly, my favorite of the gen is Metagross. The design is absolutely fantastic, steel/psychic is great and it's one of these really strong Pokemon that doesn't look like a Dragon or Dinosaur.
    Metagross for president.

  5. My favorite from this gen are definitely Gardevoir and Manectric. I replayed emerald very many times and those 2 are the only ones who stay in the team no matter what. :D

    1. Probably my least favorite gen. Still shedninja and a few others shine.

Personally I'm a fan of the fourth gen. Especially as my favorite starter line is next.

  6. screw genwunners, this gen is really good and underrated. gardevoir, metagross, breloom and others have such great designs to me. but probably i like this gen so much since sapphire was the fisrt pokemon game i remember playing. the first pokemon video game music i heard, my first cycling road, etc.

  8. "Especially not with the fourth generation up next..."

That sounds like you are insulting my 2nd favorite generation, which was only able to be dethroned by 5th.

  9. No kiddin'. Gen III was amazing. Despite it also being my first, I did go back and play red and silver versions, but I'll never say that Kanto and Johto were more interesting to explore by a long shot. Gen 1 seemed particularly uninspired, aside from the starters, Mewtwo, the fossils, the traded ones, and Nidoking/queen. And I'll never get how epic my team in Sapphire was(besides Dustox) Even now, my team's at level 84, with Linoone, who is surprisingly useful, Hariyama and Breloom that owned everyone that wasn't Phoebe, Sceptile, and Pelipper. The dark types were awesome and I was so angry I missed out my first run through. I tried a Furret out in HeartGold, by the way. Slam is super-unreliable, and it learns Double-Edge after you beat the Elite Four. Linoone's better on all accounts, with bonus points for being capable of looking badass. Not to mention, their Elite Four was the epitome of cool. Bruno, Will, and Agatha. My only complaint about Hoenn is that the Team Magma/Aqua concept was underdeveloped in Ruby/Sapphire.
But hey, if it wasn't, then why the hell would you but Emerald? Rayquaza was amazing in those cutscenes. Gen IV had way too many uglies for me to bother giving credit to some great ideas. And when Gen V showed up with all of their new designs....Uggggggghhhhhhh. The headaches still show up. But wow, does the rest of the game look pretty!

  10. You're missing legendarys

If legendarys are not included, atleast Salamance, Metagross, and Dragonite should be there.

  11. ^what i mean by missing legendarys is that many of them have high stats such as Rayquaza and Latios.

    1. Not a ranking of the best Pokemon by stats, rather of "my favorite ones". And I do have Metagross up there, numbnuts!

  13. Easily my favorite Gen. SCREW POPULAR OPINION!

Let's see, my favorites from Gen 3...

The Treecko Line, Blaziken, Swampert, the Zigzagoon line, Shiftry, the Ralts line, Breloom, Vigoroth and Slaking, Ninjask, Shedinja, Exploud, Hariyama, the Aron line, the Electrike line, Wailord, Camerupt, Flygon, the Swablu line, Zangoose, Armaldo, Milotic, Duskull, Banette, Tropius, Absol, Snorunt, Walrein, the Bagon line, Metagross, and the legendaries.

But to be specific, Blaziken is number one from Gen 3. My favorite gens in order from most to least favorite (Pokemon-wise) are 3, 5, 1, 4, and lastly 2.

My only complaint about Gen 3's Pokemon are all of the pairs (Plusle & Minun, Volbeat & Illumise, etc.)

  15. Gen 3 is pretty awesome i think. My best emerald team after beating the game multiple times

    -Skarmory
    -Breloom/Cacturne
    -Swampert/Moltic
    -Gengar
    -whatever else
Slaking with hyper beam and a choice band, adamant nature, and maxed out protein. That thing literally killed everything with hyper beam first turn it was in, keep in mind it gets STAB as well from it
Also, skarmory in gen 3 is amazing as was in gen 2, but now learned spikes, which makes it an even better lead. It also has steel wing, which has good acc, 70 dmg with STAB, and a chance to boost its already amazingly high def, also having no physical weaknesses to begin with. Give it an impish or adamant nature, and youre set.
my all time favorite breloom is amazing. Learning spore (a 100 acc sleep inducer) with focus punch is boss. Sleep it one turn, do 150 dmg with STAB the next turn, with an already high att with adamant or jolly nature. And if you tutor it sword dance, combo'd with a mach punch, you can spore, sword dance once or twice, then just mach punch your way to victory.
And gengar is boss in all gens. I teach mine confuse ray, hypnosis, dream eater, and double team. This lets me confuse, covering for me to use hypnosis without getting murdered
then, i double team until they wake up, confuse and sleep again, then dream eat hyp the rest of the battle.
swampert is just a beast with earthquake, surf/muddy water, endeavor, and whatever else you want (i usualy go with a rest, rockslide, or blizzard for those pesky dragons)
moltic is just an amazing special wall, with recover, refresh, and great sp def
Cacturne is amazing too, especially if youre forming a sandstorm team with a tyranitar or something. Great secondary to a tyrantitar lead, because it boosts evasion in a sandstorm
coupled with a breed for a 100 acc confusion move (teeter dance) and knowing spikes, as well as some great grass and dark moves, ingrain and leech seed, and having an equally great att and sp att, cacturne offers huge flexibility and tons of fun for walling, stalling, sweeping, or whatever floats your boat.
All and all, love the gen as much as 1 and 2.

  16. My team in emerald right now is
Sceptile lvl 51 with leaf blade ariel ace quick attack and for now slam

Ludicolo surf lee h seed mega drain and hydro pump
    Lvl 52^
Shifty lvl 53 extra sensery fake out faint attack and torment

Skarmory 52 steel wing spike's toxic and fly

Magnetron lvl 55 t bolt shock wave lock onand metal sound

And finally either walrien 51 ice beam body some earthquake and ater pulse

Oorr relicanth lvl60 double edge harden rock tomb and surf with rockheAd ability!!! Great team right??

  17. Blaziken is the most epic chicken in the world, Sceptile's tied with Torterra for the most competent-looking grass starter, and Swampert has one weakness. ONE WEAKNESS! and an immunity to electricity! The weather trio and the regis had awesome designs. So many awesome dark types, Tropius, Sableye, Metagross, Breloom, Aggron, Deoxys, Mawile, Banette, the fossils, how was gen 3 not the best?
Azurill, Wynaut, and the stupidly elaborate and painstaking quest to get a Milotic were the only downsides to Hoenn, really.
